JCCGCI’s Jay Harama OAC serves nearly 1,500 clients annually, across several programs. Besides nutritious, freshly cooked breakfast and lunch meals, clients are provided access to arts and culture programming, including music, painting, beading, crocheting, sketching, and jewelry making. Jay Harama OAC also offers physical health and exercise classes, including aerobics, dancing, ballroom dancing, and tai chi. Clients are also provided with ESL training in both Russian and Chinese languages.
Rabbi Moshe Wiener, Executive Director of JCCGCI said, “It was an honor to welcome Mayor Eric Adams to Jay Harama OAC, and introduce him to the intensive, professional services that we provide to our clients. Mayor Adams has demonstrated his fierce commitment to New York City’s older adults, and his ongoing advocacy on their behalf. We are grateful to Mayor Adams and his team, as well as the leadership of NYC Aging, guided by its dynamic and highly accomplished Commissioner Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez (represented at this visit by Associate Commissioner Jocelyn Groden), for their visit, and continued support.”
Grace Brandi, Supervising Senior Center Director of JCCGCI said, “Our older adult clients were so grateful for the opportunity to thank Mayor Adams in person for championing so many causes that benefit their lives and community. Our older adults continue to gain from his many initiatives, including tablet distribution for digital access, the creation of an Older Adult Cabinet for cross-agency coordination, and a focus on senior housing. It was such a pleasure to greet Mayor Adams, and we look forward to future opportunities for collaboration.”
