Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island’s Cure Violence Program works to prevent gun violence by mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence, shifting perspectives, and collaborating with a broad range of local organizations to advocate a strong, community-wide stance against gun violence. 

The Program Assistant supports the delivery of mental health services. Responsibilities include programmatic and clerical tasks, ensuring effective communication between the Cure Violence team and the participant. The role requires organizational skills, attention to detail, and teamwork.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Engage with potential participants to ensure service eligibility. 
  • Manage general and remote office functions. 
  • Maintain a strong social media presence. 
  • Provide support to mental health clinicians: schedule appointments, manage calendars, handle correspondence, and other relevant tasks.  
  • Maintain accurate records and databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality 
  • Assist with preparing and distributing materials, presentations, and reports. 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and coordination, including coordinating and attending community events. 
  • Act as a point of contact for addressing inquiries and providing information as needed 
  • Handle various projects as determined by the Program Director 
  • uphold and promote the program’s mission to create a safe and holding environment  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree in Social Work, Office Administration or related field 
  • Prior experience in administrative or clerical roles 
  • Proficient in using office software and equipment, including MS Office Suite 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks  
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. 

 

This part-time role requires in-person presence and is 20 hours weekly. 

 The salary range for this position is $25.00-$30.00 an hour.
