Advantage After School Program
JCCGCI’s Advantage After School program provides after-school learning and enrichment activities for high-risk, low-income Russian and Bukharian youth in 7th through 11th grades. The program provides a safe and educational atmosphere at the site of our program partner, the Jewish Institute of Queens (JIQ), to keep students engaged and connected.
The program runs five days a week for three hours each day, and is open to students of all learning and social abilities. The Advantage After School program offers tutoring, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities, English literacy assistance, peer counseling, field trips and community service opportunities. These activities deter destructive behaviors and help students see productive alternatives to their future. We want our youth to gain the self confidence they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
JCCGCI and JIQ combine our founding principles of responsibility and advocacy for youth to better improve our community and build a sense of belonging.
JCCGCI thanks the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) for funding that has made the program possible.
